Thing #3

The RSS (Really Simple Syndication) file formatting helps save time by allowing me to receive updated information over the web.  Instead of taking time to seek the information out, it seek and notifies me.  I chose to use Bloglines to check thing out.  I've often noticed the RSS feed icons but honestly did not know what they were for.  It is nice to find my favorite topics and keep up to date on the latest news and information.  I decided to "share" a few famous quotes on my blog.  

Thing #4

Flickr is a great tool to use.  I decided to upload a few personal photos from my computer to 

Flickr.  This took hours because the uploading was very slow and unsuccessful on a few of the larger photos that I originally chose.  I finally successfully uploaded the photos and tagged them. I figured out how to add them to my blog without difficulty.  There are so many options and tools to use, I could spend hours learning how to use Flickr for my needs.

Thing #2

Reading and listening to the different perspectives on Library 2.0 and the future of our libraries was thought provoking.  Technology is changing so fast and the decision of what path to take our libraries on is crucial.  The key is listening to the needs of students and community members and working those needs in to a budget, then moving forward.  Educating library users on the changes of the new technology and access to it will take time, training and staff.

23 Things on a Stick Adventure...

I completed the first "thing"!!!  Structured learning is always refreshing.  I believe I am going to enjoy learning the "23 Things".   Setting up my blog didn't take long and creating my avatar was fun.  I did run in to a slight problem saving the avatar to my blog but I attribute that to my slightly slow computer speed.
